Here's a first person viewpoint of the route of the run!

First, we start off at Taman Lembah Kiara, start and end point of this run.

Down Jalan Abang Haji Openg...

Turn left at the junction!

Through the forest path...
Now, at the foot of Taman Arboretum Kiara (Kiara Hill)!

Bangunan Bakti Siti Hasmah on your left...
Up...

Through the gates...
And round the hill...
And back down!

And finally, a mad dash back to the end point!

The response from you guys have been INCREDIBLE! We're really touched by the amount of support we've received, and we've been inspired to work harder and harder to ensure that Sunday's event will be a HUGE success!

Last minute sponsors are pouring in as of now, we've got some serious big cash donors around here! Unfortunately they've all elected to remain anonymous at this time, but come on Sunday to the Bazaar and you'll see their booths set up!

If you want to donate any cash to the NCS, you can always write out a cheque to "National Cancer Society of Malaysia". Please call 03-2698 7351 for more details. Also, please contact us should you wish to sponsor anything for the run, from products to money! Send me an email at hansheng88@gmail.com regarding sponsorships.

Remember that registration is on the 16th of December from 12pm to 6pm! One person may attend and register for a few more, but all participants must sign an indemnity form in order to obtain their RACE NUMBERS. All the entry fees we collect go straight to the NCS, no questions asked! And of course, you do not have to be a competitive runner to take part in the run!

Jalan Abang Haji Openg will be closed from 7am to 9am on Sunday (17th December 2006). Any inconvenience caused to the residents is regretted.

Hello all netizens!

The emails and phone calls are really pouring in now! Yuhhui, the beautiful lass in charge of registration has informed me that many of the eager beavers out there emailed her to "book" or "reserve" places for them on the 16th! Now, the enthusiasm from you guys is really amazing, but we're afraid that we cannot allow any "bookings" to be done, as it would be unfair to the others who may not have access to the internet, or live in places that would receive our leaflets later than the others. I understand that everyone is interested in obtaining a goodie bag, but i'm afraid we must be firm here : goodie bags will only be issued to the first 200 participants who register on the 16th. No advance bookings like the cinemas :D However, you can still register on the morning of 17th December if you're unable to make it on the 16th :D

We are sorry for the inconvenience caused, but it is the standard operating procedure to open registration a day in advance for events of this nature. Besides, it gives you a chance to locate the venue a day in advance; you wouldn't want to get lost trying to find your way to the hottest charity event in town of late now, right? :D

Remember, you can come even if you're not taking part in the run! We have a bazaar going on beside the run, and TONS of stalls are going to be there! It's gonna be a regular little pasar pagi there come Sunday, so get your shopping bags out!

With that said, i hope that the energy and excitement of all interested parties have not been killed! DO join us this Sunday for a memorable morning, and DO bring a friend along!

Directions!

We have had many enquiries from interested participants about the location of the run. Quite understandable, as most of them are from out of town, and are thus unfamiliar with the Taman Tun area! To prevent you guys from getting lost on the 16th and 17th (not good!), here's a map to clarify things! Just follow the yellow road (like little Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz!) to TAMAN LEMBAH KIARA, the starting point and ending point of the run.

RACE ROUTE:

The route of the run takes you from the entrance of Taman Lembah Kiara down Jalan Abang Haji Openg, and right into a small slip road that takes you into Cangkat Abang Haji Openg, past Bangunan Bakti Siti Hasmah which is situated on the left of the road.

From there, it's a gruelling and challenging run up and down Taman Arboretum Lembah Kiara, and then it's a final sprint back down Jalan Abang Haji Openg to the finish line!

Prizes for now are attractive hampers for the top three, but the prizes can only get better! Due to some technicalities, we are unable to disclose futher information about the prizes... but don't worry, we'll make it worth your while! (the goodie bags are good enough :D)

A little morning run to get the day going?
Finding a way to contribute to society?
Well then, the answer to both questions is the National Cancer Society Charity Run.

Organized by a group of college students driven by their zeal to serve the community, the Charity Run is a sincere project to raise funds needed by the National Cancer Society to further their service in preventing cancer, as well as improving the quality of life of those living with it.
